Our grade one class has been learning to use the XO. We use it in our classroom during the day, and take turns taking it home at night. Here are some of the things we have learned so far.
About The XO

Our teacher (Mr. Ahlness) brought a new laptop to our class. It could take pictures and video tape too. Also it can not break if it falls. It is the color green. I think it is the coolest laptop in the world! PS, now we have four XO laptops because a few weeks after we got our first one we got a second one we got a third one and after Mr. Ahlness came back from his conference Mr. Malone and Mr. Ahlness talk then Mr. Malone asked if we wanted a another one to borrow and Mr. Ahlness said yes. But we have to give it back at the end of the school year.

So we now have four Xo’s in room twelve. You can do tons of stuff on the Xo’s. I like Tam Tam Jam and mini Tam tam. You can chat to other Xo’s. They all have names. We can play matching games and others. They have writing programs. We wrote a power point about the Xos. That’s how much we like it. You also can put a flash drive in it.
We just got a person chatting with us. She was from Texas. Her XO name is Hans. But her real name is Nicole.
She said “what are you studying”. Alec said “were silent reading”. Katherine said “we have to go to an assembly now”.

We have a new fourth xo laptop in our classroom. It is quadruple the fun. The best part is we can chat with each other.
Playing on the xo laptop is f.u.n. The best part is it has a video camera you can tape movies but only for 25-30-45 seconds. It is f.u.n. with tons of stuff to do. Even make music. Make sound effects. If you don’t have one then you should get one. 200$ for one. 400 to buy one if you are rich. But they’re funner than any computer.

We now have four XO laptops now. The first one our teacher bought. Then second and third people gave them to us. Then our fourth really isn’t ours this nice girl Tammy let us borrow it for the rest of the year.
My favorite thing to do on the XO laptop is chat, tam tam jam, and the memory game.

Lincoln and the XO

Hi, I’m Lincoln, and I helped Mr. Ahlness open his first XO at his house. I really like cardboard boxes, and the one the XO came in had a big green XO on it!
One time when we were sitting on the couch, Mr. Ahlness connected 2 XO’s and had them do Sonic measuring tape, I think that’s what it’s called. Anyway, when they started measuring each other I nearly jumped off the couch! It really scared me. - Lincoln
Glad to be here!

This is Mark Ahlness, teacher at Arbor Heights Elementary in Seattle, WA, USA. My third grade classroom has been enjoying exploring with our three XO laptops. My students have blogged about their first experiences, and have just completed short PowerPoint presentations about our XO’s.
Hopefully, they will soon be sharing their impressions on this blog as well. Thanks for the opportunity, Jeff!

This website is given freely to any student who has an XO laptop or who has taken the time to investigate the power of this little green machine. The goal of this website is to give students around the world in any language at any level the ability to write about their experience with the XO Laptop. My hope is that students will have a place to write freely, explore the power of connections, and learn from each other in the process.
